Our Ingredients

Prunus amygdalus dulcis oil  

Sweet almond oil is a popular choice of oil in skin care due to its ability to soften, soothe and help the skin retain moisture. It is also high in vitamin E. 

Cera alba 

Beeswax is a humectant, helping to retain moisture, an emollient to soften and soothe the skin; it is also antiseptic and rich in vitamin A.

Ricinus communis seed oil

Castor oil is easily absorbed into the skin, has excellent moisturising properties and produces a dense lather in soap. When used in our soap making process it is listed as Sodium castorate.

Theobroma cacao seed butter

With a high-fat content, cocoa butter makes an excellent emollient creating a protective barrier on the skin's surface to lock in moisture. Rich in antioxidants and vitamin E.

Cocos nucifera oil

Helps soften, cleanse and soothe skin and is easily absorbed into the skin. Coconut oil is used in our soaps to make lots of fluffy bubbles and is  listed as Sodium cocoate. 

Vitis vinifera seed oil  

Grapeseed oil is a great source of omega-6 fatty acids and Vitamin E, it is light weight, non greasy and easily absorbed.

Olea europaea fruit oil

High in essential fatty acids, easily absorbed into the skin making the soap moisturising and mild. It is also full of anti-oxidants. When used in our soap making process it is listed as Sodium olivate.

Elaeis guineensis oil

Palm oil produces a mild firm bar of soap with a creamy long lasting lather.  We only use sustainable palm oil purchased from a certified RSPO members. When used in our soap making process it is listed as Sodium palmate.

Butyrospermum parkii butter

Added for its moisturising and soothing properties, it also helps the skin retain moisture. Good for all skin types especially dry and damaged skin due to its healing and regenerative properties. When used in our soap making process it is listed as Sodium shea butterate.

Helianthus annuus seed oil  

Sunflower oil is highly absorbent and non-comedogenic. This means it will not clog your pores, and it is well suited for most skin types.

Hydrogenated soy bean oil

Soy wax is rich in Vitamin E that can help moisturise and soften the skin. It’s natural, non-toxic, and biodegradable with a clean burn and low burning temperature making it ideal for massage candles. 

Amyris balsamifera bark oil 

Amyris, also known as West Indian Sandalwood, exudes a woody, warm, and subtly sweet fragrance. Amyris’ aroma is reminiscent of earthy woods with a hint of sweetness,  often used to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and create a sense of tranquillity.  

Citrus aurantium bergamia

Bergamot is fresh, citrusy, and uplifting. Bergamot's fragrance is invigorating and refreshing, with a crisp and lively quality that energizes the senses, often used to elevate mood, alleviate stress, and promote a sense of well-being. 

Piper nigrum fruit oil 

Black pepper is spicy, warm, and deeply aromatic. Black pepper's fragrance is intense and invigorating, with a sharp and peppery quality that awakens the senses, often used in aromatherapy to promote focus, enhance circulation, and provide relief from muscle tension.  

Cedrus atlantic wood oil

  Cedarwood is woody, warm, and grounding. Cedarwood's fragrance is robust and comforting, with a calming and soothing quality that envelops the senses, often used in aromatherapy to promote relaxation, alleviate stress, and enhance mental clarity. 

Cinnamomum zeylanicum leaf oil

Cinnamon is warm, spicy, and deeply aromatic. Cinnamon's fragrance is intense and comforting, with a cozy and inviting quality that evokes memories of baking and holiday festivities, often used in aromatherapy to promote warmth, uplift the mood, and enhance focus. 

Eugenia caryophyllus bud oil

Clove is warm, spicy, and incredibly aromatic. Clove's fragrance is intense and comforting, with a deep and earthy quality that conjures warmth and coziness, often used in aromatherapy to promote relaxation, alleviate stress, and provide a sense of comfort. 

Coffea arabica seed oil

Coffee is rich, deep, and alluringly aromatic. Coffee’s fragrance has a distinctively bold and enticing scent, with hints of bitterness and a subtle earthiness, often associated with awakening the senses, providing a boost of energy, and creating a comforting atmosphere. 

Boswellia carterii oil 

Frankincense is ancient, exotic, and deeply spiritual. Frankincense's fragrance has a warm and grounding quality that invites introspection and meditation. It has been revered for centuries for its ability to uplift the spirit, purify the mind, and create a sense of peace and tranquillity.  

Pelargonium graveolens oil 

Geranium is floral, fresh, and uplifting. Geranium's fragrance is vibrant and invigorating, with a bright and cheerful quality that uplifts the senses, is often used in aromatherapy to promote balance, soothe the mind, and enhance emotional well-being. 

Zingiber officinale root oil

Ginger is warm, spicy, and invigorating. Ginger's fragrance is lively and energizing, with a zesty and powerful quality that awakens the senses. It is often used in aromatherapy to promote vitality, alleviate nausea, and enhance mental clarity. 

Citrus paradisi fruit oil

Juniperus communis fruit oil

Juniper berry is crisp, woody, and refreshing. Juniper berry's fragrance is invigorating and clarifying, with a fresh and clean quality that revitalizes the senses, often used to promote mental clarity, reduce stress, and purify the air.  

Lavandula angustifolia oil

Lavender is timeless, soothing, and profoundly calming. Lavender's fragrance is elegant and serene, with a soft and comforting quality that promotes relaxation and tranquillity, often used to alleviate stress, promote sleep, and soothe the mind and body. 

Citrus limon peel oil

Lemon is fresh, bright, and incredibly energising. Lemon's fragrance is vibrant and uplifting with a zesty and refreshing quality that activates sensory response, often used to promote a sense of cleanliness and freshness.

Cymbopogon flexuosus oil

Lemongrass is fresh, vibrant, and invigorating. Lemongrass's fragrance is energizing and revitalizing, with a crisp and clean quality that refreshes the senses, often used to uplift mood, enhance mental clarity, and reduce stress.    

Citrus aurantifolia oil

Lime is lively, zesty, and refreshingly tangy. Lime's fragrance is uplifting with a crisp and vibrant quality that invigorates the senses, often used to promote a sense of vitality, uplift mood, and enhance mental clarity. 

Litsea cubeba fruit oil

Litsea Cubeba, also known as May Chang, is citrusy and bright.  Similar to that of lemongrass, it exudes a distinctively clean and refreshing scent, often used to promote sense of renewal and vitality. 

Citrus nobilis peel oil 

Mandarin is citrusy, and delightfully refreshing. Mandarin's fragrance is invigorating and uplifting, with a crisp and vibrant quality that engages the senses, often used  in aromatherapy to promote positivity, uplift mood, and evoke feelings of joy and vitality.  

Citrus aurantium amara flower oil 

Neroli is sweet, floral, and emotionally uplifting. Neroli's fragrance is calming and refreshing, with a bright and invigorating quality that soothes the senses. often used to reduce anxiety, enhance mood, and promote relaxation. 

Cymbopogon martini oil

Palmarosa is often described as floral and rosy. Palmarosa's fragrance is a distinctively soft and floral scent, reminiscent of roses with a touch of lemon, often used to promote relaxation, alleviate stress, and enhance emotional well-being.  

Pogostemon cablin leaf oil

Patchouli is earthy, rich, and deeply exotic. Patchouli's fragrance is complex and mysterious, evoking images of distant lands and ancient traditions, often used in perfumery to promote relaxation, enhance focus, and instil a sense of grounding.  

Mentha piperita oil

Peppermint is invigorating, cooling, and intensely fresh. Peppermint's fragrance is refreshing with a burst of menthol that clears the mind and revitalizes the body, often used in aromatherapy to promote mental clarity, alleviate fatigue, and soothe headaches. 

Rosmarinus officinalis leaf oil

Rosemary is herbaceous, aromatic, and therapeutic. Rosemary's fragrance is fresh and woody with hints of pine and camphor, often used aromatherapy to promote mental alertness and memory retention. 

Mentha spicata herb oil

Spearmint is refreshing, sweet, and distinctly minty. Spearmint's fragrance is a crisp and cool aroma that is softer and sweeter compared to peppermint, often used in aromatherapy to promote relaxation, alleviate stress, and soothe minor ailments. 

Citrus aurantium dulcis peel   

Sweet orange is vibrant, citrusy, and delightfully uplifting. Sweet orange's fragrance is bright and invigorating, with a sunny and tangy quality, often used to promote happiness, reduce anxiety, and uplift the mood. 

Melaleuca alternifolia leaf oil

Tea tree is fresh, medicinal, and invigorating. Tea tree's fragrance is distinctively herbal and antiseptic, often associated with its therapeutic properties, used to promote skin health, alleviate congestion, and support overall well-being. 

Cananga odorata flower oil 

Ylang-Ylang is exotic, floral, and deeply enchanting. Ylang-Ylang's fragrance is sensual and intoxicating, with a heady and floral quality that captivates the senses often used to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and enhance mood and sensuality.   

Alkanna tinctoria root extract

  A natural dye infused in oil, Alkanet root is used to create an array of colours including of grey, lavender, burgundy. 

Bixa orellana seed 

Annatto seeds are commonly used as a natural colouring agent to create tones of yellow and orange in various industries, including food, cosmetics, and textiles. 

Kaolin, illite, montmorillonite and Moroccan lava clay  

Cosmetic clays come in a variety of colours and are celebrated for their multifaceted benefits including its ability to absorb excess oil while balancing skin tone, offering a holistic solution for nourishing the skin.

Charcoal powder

Charcoal powder is a natural black to pale grey colourant in soaps, bath bombs and masks. It is also used in skincare products to remove blemishes, excess oil, toxins, and impurities from the skin.

Caprae lac 

Goat's milk, rich in moisturising fatty acids and gentle exfoliating lactic acid, soothes, hydrates, and nourishes the skin, offering anti-inflammatory benefits and antioxidant protection for a radiant and youthful complexion. 

Camellia sinensis leaf extract 

 With its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial properties, the benefits of green tea are wide-ranging. Green tea's ability to reduce skin irritation, skin redness, and swelling make it a must-have in your skincare routine.

Rubia tinctorum root extract

Madder root, prized for its natural colour and one of the most popular for soap making as it offers a beautiful shade and will give a very nice light pink colour to a deep, rich red hue.

Beer

Thanks to the anti-inflammatory properties of hops, beer soap may help soothe inflamed, itchy skin. Adding beer to the soapmaking process instead of water makes for a rich lather that enhances your bathing experience.  

Capsicum annuum fruit extract

Paprika is used for its natural colour and commonly used as a natural red pigment to tint products and cosmetics, creates an orange-yellow to rich peach rich colour in soap. 

Mentha piperita leaf 

 All the benefits of peppermint essential oil with the addition of a mind exfoliant. Refreshing, cooling, and invigorating. 

Pumice 

Is an effective exfoliant in soap, removing dead skin cells and unclogging pores for smoother, clearer skin. Its abrasive texture stimulates circulation, enhances product absorption, and is a natural, biodegradable ingredient. 

Rosa gallica flower

Roses have a rich history dating back to ancient times. Ancient Egyptians utilised roses by boiling them down to create cosmetics and healing balms, highly prized in the world of perfumery.

Titanium dioxide 

Titanium dioxide is a versatile colorant used in a variety of industries. It is a widely used colorant in soap making, providing a bright white pigment that enhances the visual appeal of soaps. In addition, titanium dioxide is a safe and natural mineral. 

Curcuma Longa 

Turmeric serves as a natural colorant due to its vibrant yellow-orange hue, used in our soaps for its natural colour ranging from a pale pink-yellow to deep burnt orange. 

Prunus armeniaca fruit powder

Apricot fruit powder, rich in vitamins and antioxidants, revitalizes and moisturizes the skin, leaving it radiant and smooth. Ideal for homemade face masks. Used in our mix at home face masks. 

Musa acuminata fruit powder

Banana fruit powder, rich in vitamins and antioxidants, nourishes and revitalizes the skin, promoting a healthy, youthful glow while providing gentle exfoliation and hydration. Used in our mix at home face masks. 

Brassica alcohol

  Brassica Alcohol is a Palm Free and Vegan-friendly natural thickening agent and emulsifier, reduces hair breakage due to tangling and combing by conditioning and softening the hair.  Used in our shampoo and conditioner bars.

Behentrimonium methosulfate Despite its name, Behentrimonium Methosulfate is a sulfate free emulsifier, BTMS is derived from rape seed oil it makes an excellent hair conditioner and is palm free, used in our solid conditioner bars.

Buttermilk powder 

rich in lactic acid which naturally cleans and brightens the skin. Also a high concentration of vitamins and minerals, used in our mix at home face masks.

Cetyl alcohol 

Cetyl alcohol is an emulsifier derived from coconut, with its ability to retain moisture, improve texture, and combat frizz and tangles. Used in our shampoo and conditioner bars. 

Citric acid 

Citric acid is essential in bath bombs for producing the effervescent reaction with sodium bicarbonate, maintaining pH balance, providing skin benefits, softening bath water and helping to stabilize and bind the product, used in our bath truffles. 

Theobroma cacao seed powder    

The theobromine found in cocoa powder enhances blood flow to the skin's surface, revealing fresher and brighter skin.  It is also an excellent natural colourant. 

Cocomidopropyl betaine 

Often referred to as coco-betaine, it is a mild amphoteric surfactant made  from coconuts and offers excellent foaming abilities, used in our shampoo bars.

Cocos nucifera fruit powder, apioca starch

Coconut milk powder is rich in moisturizing fatty acids and nutrients, deeply hydrates and softens the skin, leaving it smooth, supple, and nourished. Used in our mix at home face masks.

Aqua 

Used in our soap making process, bottled at source in Cumbria it used to allow the saponification process between the alkali and the oils. 

Whole goat milk

Goat milk powder, packed with nourishing vitamins and minerals, hydrates, soothes, and rejuvenates the skin, promoting a healthy, radiant complexion.  Used in our mix at home face masks.

Mel 

 Raw honey from our bees here in Shap, Cumbria is added to our soaps and powdered honey to our mix at home face mask to help moisturise and hydrate the skin. 

Avena sativa kernel meal 

We use Cumbrian grown oats in our soaps and Scottish oats in our mix at home face masks; oats gently exfoliate, improves your skin complexion, and reduces skin inflammation. 

Panthenol 

Is a humectant providing long lasting moisturisation. Leaves hair shiny and soft and reduces static, prevent things like frizzing, splitting, and fraying. Used in our shampoo and conditioner bars

Polyquaternium 7 

An excellent conditioner for hair, detangles and allows easier wet-combing adding softness and shine to dry hair, used in our shampoo bars.

Sodium cocoyl isethionate 

A mild surfactant with high foaming capacity and conditioning effects that leave the hair and skin feeling hydrated, soft, and silky smooth.  Used in our Shampoo bars.

Sodium bicarbonate 

Is essential in bath bombs for creating the fizzing effect when plunged into hot water, helping to diffuse colours and essential oils. It also softens the water, providing skin benefits, and helping to stabilize and bind the ingredients. 

Sodium hydroxide 

A strong alkali used to create a simple chemical process called saponification.  Once complete there is no sodium hydroxide left and the result is beautiful natural soap.

Rubus Idaeus fruit powder 

Raspberry powder, rich in antioxidants and vitamins, can rejuvenate the skin, promote collagen production, and provide gentle exfoliation, leaving the skin radiant and refreshed.

Tocopherol &

Renowned for its antioxidant properties, Vitamin E helps protect the skin from environmental damage and supports skin repair.
