Ricinus communis seed oil

Derived from castor beans, this thick, protective oil is easily absorbed and offers intense moisturising properties. In our traditional soap-making process, it is converted into Sodium Castorate, where it works its magic by creating a dense, creamy lather. It leaves the skin feeling deeply conditioned and is a must-have for a luxurious bathing experience. 

Theobroma cacao seed butter

With its high healthy-fat content, Cocoa Butter is an extraordinary emollient that creates a physical barrier to lock in hydration. Extracted from whole cocoa beans, it is naturally rich in antioxidants and Vitamin E. It deeply nourishes the skin, improving elasticity and leaving behind a faint, delicious aroma and a silky-smooth finish.

Cocos nucifera oil

A true multi-tasker, Coconut Oil helps to cleanse, soften, and soothe the skin simultaneously. In our soaps, it appears as Sodium Cocoate, responsible for creating big, fluffy bubbles that lift away impurities. It is easily absorbed, ensuring your skin feels refreshed and hydrated rather than stripped, making it perfect for everyday eco-friendly care.

Vitis vinifera seed oil  

Grapeseed Oil is a fantastic source of Omega-6 fatty acids and Vitamin E. This oil is particularly popular for those who prefer a non-greasy finish, as its lightweight molecular structure allows it to be absorbed almost instantly. It helps to balance the skin's natural oils while providing a boost of moisture and antioxidant protection.

Olea europaea fruit oil

Olive Oil is a cornerstone of mild, moisturising soap. High in essential fatty acids and antioxidants, it nourishes the skin while providing a gentle cleanse. When saponified into Sodium Olivate, it creates a bar that is famously kind to sensitive skin. It’s a time-honoured ingredient that ensures your skin feels pampered, soft, and thoroughly hydrated.

  Brassica Campestris Seed Oil 

 Grown by Eden Yard in the heart of the Eden Valley, this Cumbrian Rapeseed oil is a sustainable local treasure. Rich in Vitamin E and Omega acids, it provides exceptional nourishment. As Sodium Rapeseedate in our soaps, it creates a mild, skin-kind lather that leaves you feeling soft and moisturised. 

Elaeis guineensis oil

 We exclusively use sustainable palm oil from certified RSPO members to create firm, long-lasting soap bars with a creamy lather. Listed as Sodium Palmate in our finished soaps, it provides a gentle, effective cleanse. By choosing RSPO-certified sources, we ensure our high-performance soap remains eco-friendly and respects global biodiversity while caring for your skin.

Hydrogenated soy bean oil

Our eco-friendly Soy Wax is a natural, biodegradable alternative to paraffin. Rich in Vitamin E, it possesses excellent emollient properties that soften the skin upon contact. Because it has a low melting point, it is the perfect base for our massage candles, providing a clean burn and a warm, skin-conditioning oil that feels truly indulgent.

Alkanna tinctoria root extract

Alkanet is a traditional plant-based dye that we infuse into our oils to achieve beautiful, natural hues. Depending on the blend, it can create a stunning spectrum of colours, from soft lavender and muted grey to deep, rich burgundy. It allows us to colour our soaps beautifully without the need for synthetic pigments. 

Bixa orellana seed 

Commonly used as a natural colouring agent, Annatto seeds provide our products with warm, sunny tones. Ranging from bright yellow to deep orange, these seeds are a fantastic eco-friendly way to add visual appeal. They have been used for centuries in food and cosmetics, ensuring a safe and natural glow for our soaps. 

Kaolin, illite, montmorillonite and Moroccan lava clay  

Our various clays are celebrated for their ability to balance the skin by absorbing excess oil and impurities. Available in a range of natural earth tones, they offer a holistic solution for nourishing the skin while adding beautiful, muted colours to our bars. They leave the skin feeling refined, smooth, and perfectly balanced. 

Charcoal powder

Charcoal is a powerhouse for deep cleansing, acting like a magnet to lift away toxins, impurities, and excess oil from the skin's surface. As a natural colourant, it provides our products with shades ranging from pale grey to dramatic black. Caprae lac 

Rich in moisturising fatty acids and gentle lactic acid, Goat's Milk is a skincare superstar. It works to soothe, hydrate, and nourish even the most sensitive skin. Its natural exfoliating properties help to reveal a radiant, youthful complexion, while its anti-inflammatory benefits provide a calming touch that leaves skin feeling soft and supple.

Calluna vulgaris flower extract  Grown across British moorlands, heather flowers are a traditional botanical treasure. Naturally rich in antioxidants and tannins, this extract helps soothe the complexion and protect against environmental stressors. Its calming properties make it perfect for maintaining a clear, balanced, and healthy-looking skin tone. 

Rubia tinctorum root extract

Madder Root is one of the most prized natural dyes in traditional soap making. It offers a beautiful range of shades, from delicate light pink to deep, rich red. Beyond its stunning colour, it provides a gentle, botanical touch to our bars, ensuring they look as beautiful as they feel on your skin.

Beer

Substituting water with local Pale Ale in our soap-making process creates an incredibly rich, indulgent lather. The hops in the beer are known for their anti-inflammatory properties, which can help soothe itchy or inflamed skin. It transforms a simple bath into a luxurious experience, leaving your skin feeling exceptionally soft and comforted.

Capsicum annuum fruit extract

Paprika is a wonderful natural pigment used to tint our soaps with warm, inviting colours. Depending on the concentration, it creates everything from a soft peach to a vibrant orange-yellow hue. It’s a perfect example of how we use kitchen-cupboard ingredients to create beautiful, eco-friendly products without the need for harsh chemicals.

By adding dried Peppermint Leaves, we provide all the aromatic benefits of the essential oil alongside a gentle, natural exfoliant.  Rich in vitamins and antioxidants, Apricot Powder is a fantastic ingredient for revitalising tired skin. We use it in our "mix-at-home" face masks to provide gentle exfoliation and deep moisturisation. It helps to buff away dullness, leaving your complexion feeling radiant, smooth, and naturally refreshed.

Musa acuminata fruit powder

Banana Powder is a nutritional powerhouse for the skin, packed with vitamins that promote a healthy, youthful glow. In our face masks, it provides gentle hydration and nourishment, helping to revitalise the skin's surface. It’s a natural, food-grade way to achieve soft, supple, and hydrated skin with a boost of antioxidants.

Brassica alcohol

A palm-free and vegan-friendly ingredient, Brassica Alcohol serves as a natural thickening agent and emulsifier. Derived from the cabbage family, it is exceptional for hair care, helping to condition and soften strands. It reduces breakage by making hair easier to detangle, leaving your locks feeling smooth, manageable, and incredibly soft.

Behentrimonium methosulfate   

Despite its technical name, BTMS is a non-sulfate emulsifier derived from natural rapeseed oil. It is a star ingredient in our solid conditioner bars because it provides unparalleled detangling and conditioning. Being palm-free, it aligns perfectly with our eco-friendly values while leaving your hair feeling silky, shiny, and easy to comb.

Buttermilk powder 

Buttermilk Powder is abundant in natural lactic acid, which acts as a very gentle exfoliant to brighten and renew the skin. It is deeply moisturising and helps to revitalise a dull complexion. By incorporating this nutrient-rich powder, we ensure your skin feels exceptionally soft, smooth, and thoroughly pampered.

Cetyl alcohol 

Our Cetyl Alcohol is an emulsifier derived from coconut, used to improve texture and help the skin and hair retain moisture. In our shampoo and conditioner bars, it works to combat frizz and tangles, providing a smooth finish. It is a "fatty alcohol," meaning it is moisturising rather than drying, ensuring a silky-smooth result.

Citric acid 

Citric Acid is the secret behind the delightful fizz of our bath and shower bombs. When combined with sodium bicarbonate, it creates an effervescent reaction that softens the bath water and helps diffuse essential oils. It also helps to maintain the pH balance of the product, ensuring it is gentle and beneficial for your skin.

This is a mild, coconut-derived surfactant that provides excellent foaming abilities in our shampoo bars. It is much gentler than traditional sulfates, ensuring a rich, bubbly lather that cleanses effectively without stripping the hair or scalp of their natural oils. It leaves your hair feeling clean, soft, and easy to manage.

Aqua 

We use pure spring water, bottled at the source right here in Cumbria, for our soap-making process. This high-quality water is essential for the saponification process, where it helps the alkali and oils transform into natural soap. Using local, fresh water ensures our products remain grounded in our beautiful regional heritage.

Whole goat milk

Packed with vitamins and minerals, our Goat's Milk Powder is a concentrated way to deliver deep hydration and soothing care. In our face masks, it helps to rejuvenate the skin and promote a healthy, radiant complexion. It is particularly effective for those with sensitive skin who need a gentle, nourishing boost.

Mel 

Harvested from our own bees in Shap, Cumbria, our raw honey is a natural humectant that draws moisture into the skin. Packed with antioxidants, it deeply hydrates and provides a soothing touch. This local liquid gold leaves your skin feeling incredibly soft, supple, and revitalised. 

 Mel & Maltodextrin 

 Honey powder is a natural humectant, perfect for our mix-at-home face masks. It draws moisture into the skin to provide deep hydration and long-lasting softness. Rich in nutrients, it helps revitalise the complexion, leaving your skin feeling silky-smooth, nourished, and naturally glowing. 

Avena sativa kernel meal 

We use locally grown Cumbrian oats in our soaps and Scottish oats in our face masks for their legendary skin-soothing properties. Oats act as a very gentle exfoliant, helping to improve skin complexion and reduce the appearance of redness. They leave the skin feeling calm, comforted, and incredibly soft to the touch.

Panthenol 

Panthenol is a high-performance humectant that provides long-lasting moisturisation. In our hair care products, it works to reduce static, prevent frizz, and protect against split ends. It leaves your hair feeling exceptionally shiny and soft, making it a vital ingredient for maintaining healthy-looking, manageable hair.

Polyquaternium 7 

This is an excellent conditioner that helps to detangle hair and allows for much easier wet combing. It adds a noticeable softness and shine to dry or damaged hair, helping to smooth the hair cuticle. It’s a key ingredient for achieving that "salon-feel" in an eco-friendly, solid bar format.

Sodium cocoyl isethionate 

Often called "Baby Foam" due to its extreme gentleness, SCI is a surfactant derived from coconut oil. It provides a high-foaming, luxurious lather in our shampoo bars while acting as a conditioner. It leaves both hair and skin feeling hydrated, silky-smooth, and soft, without the harshness of traditional detergents.

Sodium bicarbonate 

Essential for our bath and shower bombs, Sodium Bicarbonate creates the famous fizzing effect that helps diffuse essential oils and colours throughout your bath. Beyond the fun, it also acts as a natural water softener, providing a silky feel to the water that helps to soothe and balance the skin while you soak.

Sodium hydroxide 

Sodium Hydroxide is a vital alkali used in the traditional chemical process of Saponification. While it is used to turn oils into soap, the reaction ensures that no sodium hydroxide remains in the finished product. The result is a beautiful, natural, and safe bar of soap that is kind to your skin.

Rubus Idaeus fruit powder
